WEBINAR ON HOW TO INCORPORATE COLD-FORMED STEEL TRUSSES INTO THE DESIGN OF YOUR BUILDING
PRESENTED BY JACOB THOMPSON, P.E., S.E. TRUSSTEEL
November 12, 2020 - 3:00 pm Eastern Standard Time
CONTINUING EDUCATION: 1.5 PDHs
DESCRIPTION
Cold-formed steel (CFS) trusses are widely accepted as a vital delegated design aspect of the structure, yet integration of truss design information into contract documents can present a challenge. CFS truss packages are typically deferred submittals, so it is imperative to have open communication between all involved parties. This presentation will outline what must be included in the design documents to ensure the CFS trusses are properly designed and suitable for the design intent of the building. Beyond supporting vertical gravity loads, trusses are also utilized to resist wind and seismic loads and transfer lateral loads within the structure. This requires detailing of the loads, their paths and ultimately connections so that everyone involved has a thorough understanding of the design intent. After this presentation, you will have a better understanding of CFS truss systems and how they are used successfully in a building.
