WEBINAR ON BASIC COLD-FORMED STEEL FRAMING DIAPHRAGM DESIGN EXAMPLESPRESENTED BY ROBERT L. MADSEN, P.E. September 24, 2020 - 3:00 pm Eastern Standard Time CONTINUING EDUCATION: 1.5 PDHs DESCRIPTION Diaphragms are a key part of the lateral force-resisting system (LFRS) of most cold-formed steel framed structures. Through design examples, this webinar will provide guidance for two types of diaphragm design: 1) Rigid diaphragm design for a simple one-story structure, and 2) Flexible diaphragm design of a one-story open-front structure. The design examples will focus on the diaphragm mechanics and transfer of forces to the vertical components of the LFRS (shear walls or X-braces). Design for both wind and seismic forces will be discussed. WEBINAR MATERIALSThe day before the webinar, participants will have access to electronic versions of the following:
