2008 DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD WINNER

Jeff Ellis, P.E., S.E.The Cold-Formed Steel Engineers Institute (CFSEI) has named Jeff Ellis, P.E., S.E., Simpson Strong-Tie Co. Inc. in California as the first recipient of the CFSEI Distinguished Service Award.

The award, which recognizes the significant contributions of an individual who has volunteered time, talent and resources to the cold-formed steel industry, was presented on October 1 during the 2008 CFSEI Award Ceremony in conjunction with the Steel Framing Alliance’s 10th Anniversary Banquet held at the  Hyatt Regency Baltimore, METALCON International's headquarter hotel in Maryland.

Jeff Ellis, P.E., S.E., is a Past President of CFSEI and current Board member. Ellis spearheaded formation of CFSEI West Chapter and was instrumental in the formation of the CFSEI Lateral Task group. He is a frequent speaker at CFSEI Chapter meetings and industry events. He is also the author of Tech Note L000-08, Changes from the 1997 UBC to the 2006 IBC for Lateral Design with Cold-Formed Steel Framing and the upcoming Shear Wall Design Guide.
