CFSEI’s
Lateral Task Group is tasked with developing strategies and research
projects to meet the industry’s needs, and serve as a focal
point for managing technical issues pertaining to the lateral design
of cold-formed steel light frame construction. Current objectives
of the Task Group, which met for the first time on April 1, 2008,
include the following:
- Developing a long- and short-range strategic plan
proposal for addressing lateral issues.
- Recommending and evaluating funding for research
needs and projects.
- Serving as a technical resource and advisory
group to the AISI Committee on Framing Standards (COFS)
- Serve as a technical resource to AISI staff, for
working with code groups, including the International Code Council
Evaluation Service, ASCE 7 Committees, and others.
- Identifying activities and documents that help
disseminate information to the industry.
- Providing technical input to SFA and CFSEI in
the development of technical resources and presentations.
